Hamdan Mohammad Thaiban, H00228719.

Date: 13th January 2013.

Venue: W104.

Time: 11:15 AM.
Hamdan Mohammad introduced his presentation very well which was about obesity. He had a self-confidence to deliver the information to the audience and made an eye contact. His body language was well and he was loud and clear. He stood beside the screen and read from it; he was carrying notes. It gave the audience brief information about the topic and how to protect them from getting obesity and what it will cost .The slides were looking nice but some had a lot of sentences; also he had a short number of slides. At the end he ended up by answering all questions quickly and competently; overall it had general information and was interesting but he could make more effort if he added more slides.

Presentation Observation

Mubarak Salem Balaith, H00204513.
Date: 20th November 2012.
Venue: W104.
Time: 11:15 AM.

Mubarak introduced the topic clearly: his trip to India in 2007. He made some eye contact with the audience. He stood at the side of the screen and he started his presentation loudly. He didn’t read from cards or screen too much. He spoke clearly enough but he was confused a little due to his first presentation.

The slides were excellent with minimal text; they were clear, colorful and expressive. Mubarak didn’t take any pictures but he visited some places which were shown in his slides.

A good student to do a presentation about India, Mubarak started loudly and low in confidence. He was shy but he fielded a lot of questions competently during his presentation. Overall, it was an informative and interesting presentation.

Meeting

Reflection on Meeting:

    Sunday 14thOctober, 2012

    Venue: W104.

    Time: 11:20 AM.

    Chairman: Abdullah Ali.

    Secretary: Hasan Mubarak.

    Participant: Hamdan Mohamed, Abdul Kareem.

Problem: Video games effect on teenagers and kids.

Abdullah Ali started the meeting by greeting his members then he talked about the effects of video games on teenagers and kids to find solutions, he started with an introduction and then he said the agenda for this problem which are:

    1) Behavior: disorder symptoms.

    2) Bad effect on study performance.

    3) Social problems.

    4) The effect of playing violent games on children.

In the beginning I mentioned that the parents should take the children to see a psychiatrist to let them see the bad effect of sitting a long time playing the video games. Hamdan said that the parents should keep in touch with the teachers and encourage their children to get high marks in the school. Abdul Kareem said the parents should communicate with their kids and take them every weekend for a trip to keep them away from video games. Finally for the last point Abdullah admonished the parents who should look after their children and keep them away from violent games or even stay with them when they play these games and don’t let them practice these games on others. Abdullah admonished the parents and said they should advise their teenage children that this is just a game and they mustn’t practice it in real life.

    Recommendation:

Ø Seeing a psychiatrist is a good idea but our society thinks that anyone who goes and sees a psychiatrist is crazy and because of this it’s difficult for the children to accept this idea.

Ø Keeping the parents in touch with the teachers will help the parents very much with their children to know the academic achievement and will encourage the children to study more to get what will help them.

Ø Going out on a trip will give the children and parents a good communication between them and thus will reduce the time of children sitting alone and spending their time playing video games.

Ø Violent games are harmful and parents should not allow their children to play them.

I learned how to share solutions with our members, having self-confident and how to convince others. Finally it was very interesting meeting and I hope that the teenagers and kids will take our solutions.

At the end the chairman Abdullah closed the meeting by thanking all of us at
    11:45 AM.
